We enjoy the feel of a small community fire department. But, in reality we have some of the largest hazards in the state (Roper Rail Yard, Interchange of I-15 & I-80, and a large industrial center). This mixture allows our firefighters to have the best of both worlds.

Department Mission/Purpose

 

It is the mission of the South Salt Lake Fire Department to provide professional and competent emergency medical, fire, and rescue services to our customers, the citizens of the City of South Salt Lake.

 

In addition, it is the goal of the Fire Department to provide fire and safety education programs to our young people so that in the event fire should strike; they may save themselves from injury or death.

 

Overview

 

We have a staff of 50 full time Firefighter/AEMT or Paramedics and 25 part-time Firefighter/AEMT or Paramedics. We respond from three strategically located stations. In addition to fire response we also do ambulance transportation, hazardous materials, trench rescue, and high angle rescue.
